During the years between birth and kindergarten there are important
times when specific kinds of learning...language, motor, intellectual
and social... can be optimized for your child to develop to the
fullest. Parents as Teachers, a parent education and family support
organization, can help you capture those windows of opportunity so your
child starts school ready to succeed. Parents as Teachers helps reduce
stress and increases the pleasure of being a parent. As a
participating PAT family, you receive -

Personal visits
-- regular home visits during which your parent educator will share
age-appropriate child development and parenting information, help
you learn to observe your child, and address your parenting
concerns.

Parent group meetings
-- which are opportunities to share information about parenting
issues and child development. Parents learn and support each other,
observe their children with other children and practice parenting
skills.

Screenings
-- children are screened for hearing, vision, language, dental,
nutrition, motor, intellectual and social development, to help
parents identify any potential concern before it becomes an obstacle
to the child's development.
